Voice Lessons and Coaching
Heather's voice lessons are as diverse as her own background with her voice. All students receive training in Western Classical vocal technique, and Vocal Embodiment, which is a method developed by Houston whereby students are guided to connect and align the body, mind, and spirit with the energy of their own sound vibration. She then works with the needs of each individual student to help them with the refinement of their own vocal style. Styles include Eastern and Western Classical, jazz, blues, pop, rock, soul, bluegrass, folk, gospel, or the student's own unique sound. Her strong background in a cappella vocal harmony offers each student training in vibrational awareness and refinement of the ear, which in turn helps to refine pitch, intonation, and tone quality. She creates a safe, supportive environment within which students of all ages and ability levels will expand into their fullest vocal potential.
Voice Therapy and Vocal Meditation
Heather skillfully uses her knowledge of Indian scales, seed syllables and toning to guide the student in using the voice as a tool for healing, expansion, and deep relaxation. Samskaras (energetic, physical and emotional holding patterns) begin to move and release as the student develops the ability to maintain a one pointed concentration on the breath and vibrational qualities of the voice.
